Once
you and your physician decide that a procedure or surgery is necessary,
the physician’s office staff will schedule your procedure and
send the required information to the hospital.
Your physician may order pre-admission tests, such as blood tests,
x-rays, EKG’s or other pertinent studies. Some patients may
require specialized testing or physical therapy that may be arranged
for you through the pre-admission center. You may not be required
to visit the hospital for a pre-admission visit, if testing was completed
outside the Medical Center or if no testing was ordered.
You may also be asked to visit your primary care physician, or a
specialist (cardiologist, pulmonary doctor) to evaluate your medical
condition prior to having your procedure.
Appointments:
A member of the PAT department will call you to schedule an appointment
that is convenient for you. If you have special needs (physically
disabled, hearing impaired, or non-English speaking) please inform
the staff at the time of the appointment, so that arrangements can
be made to accommodate your special needs.
What to bring:
- Insurance Cards
- Physician and Insurance Referrals
- Testing results and/or History and Physical form from your Primary
Doctor if you have them in your possession

Interview by Registered Nurse:
During your visit you will meet with a Registered Nurse who will
review your health history and give you specific instructions to follow
prior to and immediately after your procedure. These interviews are
good opportunities to ask any questions you might have about your
scheduled procedure. After the interview you will be asked to complete
an anesthesia survey.
Medication Review:
During your interview the nurse will review the medications that
you take. Be sure to bring with you an up to date list of all of your
prescription and over the counter medicines. Remember to let us know
about any herbal products you use (i.e. ginseng, ginkgo biloba, saw
palmetto, etc. ) You may be advised to stop taking certain medications
such as blood thinners or Aspirin, Specific instructions will be given
to you in regards to heart and blood pressure medications.
Testing:
All testing including lab, EKG and Chest X-Ray are completed by the
PAT staff. Testing results are faxed to your physician’s
