 The
Department of Pathology operates a modern, full-service
laboratory performing over 1 million tests annually. All test requests
and results are managed in our up to date computer systems and can
be retrieved from the hospital network and through the Internet. Services
are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and support inpatients,
outpatients, and an outreach client base.
Outpatient laboratory collection hours are: Weekdays,
7am - 7pm and Saturday, 7am - 11am
 In
addition to providing the full range of routine and special testing
in Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Mycology,
Mycobacteriology, Immunology, and Pathology Services, comprehensive
Transfusion Services are provided, either directly or through contracted
services with the American Red Cross. These services include transfusion
of cellular and plasma products, cross matching, antibody identification,
and intraoperative cell salvage. Therapeutic apheresis services are
provided for a wide variety of diseases in neurology, hematology,
oncology, and immunology.
The Department is licensed by the New Jersey State Department of
Health, certified by Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendment and
undergoes voluntary laboratory accreditation by the Joint Commission
on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
The Blood Bank and Transfusion Services are accredited by the American
Association of Blood Banks.
