The
Field of Radiologic Technology is a challenging and rewarding
field that demands competent and compassionate radiographers. A Radiologic
Technologist or Radiographer uses ionizing radiation to image various
parts of the body for interpretation by a Radiologist. There are
several ways in which to become a certified Radiologic Technologist.
These include a 2-year hospital-based program offered at St. Francis
Medical Center, 2-year Associates degree programs and 4-year Baccalaureate
programs. If you are interested in a rewarding field that requires
a highly motivated individual who is knowledgeable in Radiographic
Procedures, Equipment Operation and Quality Control, Image Production
and Evaluation, Radiation Protection, Patient Care and Education,
then a career in the Radiologic Sciences may be for you.
The St. Francis Medical Center School
of Radiologic Technology was established in 1948 and accredited in
1950 by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology.
The Program consists of a two-year full-time course beginning the
first week of July each year. The Program accepts up to 8 students
per year, with a total enrollment of 16 students.
Upon successful completion of the 24-month certificate program,
the student is eligible to take the ARRT Registry Examination, which
certifies him/her as a Registered Technologist, RT( R ) and is eligible
for the State of New Jersey license.
